The inaugural Milt Hinton Institute for Studio Bass will feature a daylong festival on Thursday, June 12, called "Celebrating Milt Hinton.” A highlight of the day will be a guided tour of the Oberlin Conservatory Library's special collection of Hinton’s papers and photographs, which document a 70-year career during the golden age of American jazz. The tour, which begins at 2:30 pm in the Conservatory main lounge, will be led by Conservatory Special Collections Librarian Jeremy Smith. More details and a full schedule of festival events, which include a film screening, talks, and musical performances, are available
online. The day's events are also covered in
an interesting article with interviews and background information at ClevelandClassical.com.
