Thursday, November 22:  CLOSED
Friday, November 23:  10 am - 5:30 pm
Saturday, November 24: 10 am - 5:30 pm
Sunday, November 25: 10 am - 2 am

Enjoy your turkey, or your tofurkey, or your tur-duck-en, or whatever you'll be eating!

Temporary hiccup with RefWorks exporting from JSTOR

From the tech support guru:

Single citation exports from the article preview page are not working at this time. Exports from the regular search results page (including single select citations) work fine.  If you need a citation from JSTOR export it from the search results page instead of the article preview.

"High Fantasy" -- new spotlight exhibit

Thanks to donations and student requests, Oberlin's collection of books in the high fantasy genre goes beyond simply the academic. Students looking for another world to escape to can find many popular fantasy novels to satiate their need for adventure and the fantastic.  From classic epics like Lord of the Rings, to light-hearted young adult tales like Dealing With Dragons, there is plenty of choice.  Books on display can be checked out!

"The Impossible Border" -- a talk by Ari Sammartino

"The Impossible Border:  Germany, Migration, and the East 1914-1922"

on Thursday, November 15 at 4:30pm in Moffett Auditorium.

Support Oberlin Community Services during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Beginning this Saturday and continuing through November 18, the Oberlin College Libraries will accept donations of food and other household items as payment for some unpaid library fines. Please read our flyer for complete information about the program but here's a quick summary:

• Up to $20 worth of fines accrued before and during Fall Break are eligible. If you have more recent fines, pay with cash, check, or OBIE Dollars and take advantage of your 1/2 off discount!
• Credit for donated items is based on a standardized price list for items particularly needed by Oberlin Community Services.
• Please try to come during the publicized hours, when we'll be sure to have enough staff to handle the donations and clear your fines speedily.

As the economy worsens, more people are left behind.

• Nearly 20 percent of all Oberlin residents live in poverty.
• More than half of public school children in Oberlin qualify for free or reduced-cost lunches because their families are poor.
• Unemployment in Lorain County is now 10.9 percent, well above the national average of 9.3 percent. 

Oberlin Community Services assists our neighbors throughout southern Lorain with food, housing, utilities, clothes, transportation, medicine, counseling, and much more. This year the staff met with more than 100 clients each month, a quarter of whom had never needed assistance before. They rely entirely on donations, so even if you don't owe any fines, please consider a donation.

Election night coverage in Azariah's

Once again we'll be pulling out the big-screen TVs and tuning in to CNN for live coverage of election returns Tuesday night starting at 8 pm.  Grab your friends and settle in for the night!
