Johanna Drucker Speaking Friday at 4pm

Come hear "By the Book: Artist's Books in Teaching and Research," a talk by Johanna Drucker, Bernard and Martin Breslauer Professor of Bibliography, University of California at Los Angeles, on Friday, April 9 at 4pm in the Moffett Auditorium (Room 050) in Mudd Center.

Drucker is an internationally known expert in book studies and author of The Century of Artists’ Books, the first book-length study of artists’ books as a twentieth-century art form. Her lecture highlights the opening events for the exhibition Show and Bestow: The Ruth Hughes Collection of Artists’ Books, which is on view in Mudd Center and the Clarence Ward Art Library from April 5 through June 4, 2010. There will be an open book hour on the main level of Mudd Center from 3-4 pm prior to Dr. Drucker’s lecture.

The Ruth Hughes Collection, which consists of 100 artists’ books by 79 book artists, has been donated to the Oberlin College Library in honor of Ruth Hughes, Oberlin Class of 1985. Gifts to the collection are primarily from the individual book artists.
