Exhibit: Musical World of Actress Fanny Kemble

An exhibit called the "Musical World of Actress Fanny Kemble," on display in the Academic Commons, is one of five exhibitions from the Frederick Selch Collection of American Music History that are being showcased around campus. The exhibitions are part of a celebration of Patricia Bakwin Selch’s gift to Oberlin of both the collection and a Selch Professorship in American Music.  In addition to being an amateur contralto and pianist, Fanny was a celebrated actress and writer. Come see some artifacts from her life and career, including her anti-slavery volume, Journal of a residence on a Georgian plantation in 1838-1839. Better hurry though; this exhibit will only be up through October 19.
