Head up to the Goodrich Reading Room (4th floor of Mudd) to view an exhibit of new items added to the Archives over the past year. Among the items displayed is a scrapbook of Richard F. Marshall, Class of 1943, which contains clippings, dance cards, programs and other ephemera from the 1942-43 school year. Also featured is a bamboo cane used by Janet McKelvey Swift, Class of 1883, during the 75th anniversary of her graduation at commencement weekend in 1958.

The holdings of the College Archives document the history of Oberlin College and the community of Oberlin from their founding in 1833.  It acquires a wide range of unique and interesting items, including institutional records; materials related to student life, athletics, and campus events; and papers of former faculty, staff, graduates, and other individuals affiliated with the College.

The exhibit will be up until May 1, 2014.

Spring break library info

Staying in town? Library hours are shorter over spring break.

Doing research while away?  Follow these instructions to access restricted online resources (databases, e-books, online journals, etc.) when you're not on campus.

Be sure to take some time relax, recover, and recharge... and have some fun, too!  Here's hoping the Ohio winter will be gone for good by the time you return.

Need media help? Call on the COMETS!

Collaborative Media Exploration and Technology Support (COMETS) is Oberlin’s first co-curricular initiative for creative media and collaborative experimental learning. Housed within Oberlin Center for Technologically Enhanced Teaching (OCTET), we connect technically trained students with courses, faculty, staff, and other students to increase creative media literacy, exploration, and innovation.

COMET students are trained in mentoring, technical skills, and collaborating across disciplines. Mentors then provide workshops, drop-in lab assistance, playshops, and individual consultations (by appointment). You can even borrow equipment!

Check out the COMETS web page for more information.
